Swing Dance TONIGHT!!!! in the BHSS café from 7-9 pm!  Admission is only $10 and the refreshments are free! Come early for free dance lessons at 6:30 then enjoy some amazing Big Band music from the BHSS Jazz bands while you get your dancing shoes warmed up before Prom in a few weeks!

Monroe County Youth Council's education subcommittee is hosting a community science event for elementary students on April 17th at the Banneker center. Support by volunteering! Come to Fine Arts Night Wednesday, April 22nd @ BHSS Atrium, 7:00 PM to take in the works of this year's talented BHSS students. Experience musical performances, see amazing art and eat a yummy cookie or two.

Closets of the Community is hosting a toiletry drive from April 20th-May 1st. We are accepting items such as soap, toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, and more. If you are looking for a way to support your community, please donate to the bins in front of the Main Office. 
 
The Monroe County Youth Council is hosting a combined donation drive for 8 different Bloomington Organizations. We will be at the Banneker Center on Friday April 17th from 4-6. Come donate any items you have, decorate the boxes, and eat pizza. Join us in supporting the Bloomington community! 
 
Come cheer on your Panthers next Monday night at IU Wilkinson Hall for the first ever North/South Boys Volleyball cross-town clash! Free Admissions. JV will start at 6pm with varsity to follow. 
 
The Black Culture Club is meeting and will have a guest speaker on Monday, April 20th during SRT in A334.


The Area Meet will be held on Tuesday, April 21st at Bloomington High School North. Students should plan to meet at the check-in table at Bloomington High School North at 4:30pm. Check your Canvas inbox messages for more details. If you have any questions, see Mrs. McDermott-Sipe in Room A212.

Healthapalooza is coming up on April 23rd from 6–8 PM at Bloomington High School South! Enjoy a free meal from 6–7 PM, then explore a wide range of exhibitors offering health and literacy resources, education, and free items. Highlights include free children’s books, Type I diabetes screenings, vaccines, bicycle helmets, and more. You can also sign up for a library card, check out a book at the pop-up library, and learn life-saving skills like hands only CPR and Narcan administration. Don’t miss this fun, informative, and free community event
 
The School Smiles dentist is returning to our school on May 12th for dental cleanings. If you missed the dentist’s first visit, there is still time to get your student signed up for our upcoming visit! Please 
visit https://schoolsmiles.com/student-signup/ to sign-up today! A new form needs completed each school year to remain in the program, but if you have already completed a form for the 2025-26 school year, you do not need to sign-up again. School Smiles accepts Medicaid, private insurance, and offers self-pay rates for those who may be uninsured. Paper copies of sign up forms are also available in the Health Office or with the School Social Worker.
 
Any girl who is interested in joining the girls golf team next fall, please reach out to Coach Jim Southern through ParentSquare no later than Friday April 24th.


Congratulations to Gabe Taylor for setting a new school record in boys track in the  100 meter dash last evening.  His time was a 10.77

On Tuesday, April 21st, we will be celebrating our seniors at our home meet versus Brown County!
 
Souths Robotics teams were at Grandview Elementary last night for their STEAM night.
We brought our famous clawbots and battle bots for participants to operate and have fun learning about robotics.
Several hundred kids played with our bots while learning to operate them.
 
Thank you to the parents and students who came last night to help run our outreach STEM efforts.
 
The 2026 BHSS Prom will be held on Saturday, May 16th from 8pm-11:30 pm in the BHSS Atrium. Tickets will go on sale on Monday, May 11th.  Tickets are $45 and include Post Prom immediately following
