Congratulations to Michael Mmadi for being named the 2026 male high school recipient Outstanding Black Leader of Tomorrow. He was honored with this award by the City of Bloomington's Commission on the Status of Black Males for his leadership and involvement. He will be honored at the Black History Month Gala that will take place Saturday. February 28th.  
  
Start off your trimester by purchasing treats at the bake sale hosted by Academic Super Bowl before and after school outside of the cafeteria On Thursday and Friday.
 
Bloomington Blades is headed to the 1A State Championship
The Bloomington Blades High School Hockey Team is headed to the 1A Indiana State Championship this Saturday! With only three state titles in the past 50 years, a win would make this team part of Blades history. Representing Bloomington High School South are: Wyatt Warner, Tracyn Eytcheson, Gabe Miller, Patrick Dean, Henry McMurray, Eli Bryan, Ben Scott and Sam Olson. They will face Hamilton Southeastern B in a rematch for the 1A State Championship on Saturday, February 28, at 10:00 a.m. in Hammond IN. If you see any of these players this week, please wish them good luck as they compete for the title. Go Blades! 
 
Join Muslim Association Club on Monday, March 2nd during SRT to participate in a discussion with the IMAM for the Islamic Center of Bloomington. Bring your friends and learn more about Ramadan. All are welcome. 
 
Support Habitat for Humanity by coming to our annual “Hype for Habitat” event! This year, in addition to free pizza and Crumble cookies, Hype will also have a volleyball tournament! Make a team and sign up during all lunches this week, or just join a team the day of. Hype will be on Friday, February 27th from 5-7pm in the purple gym. Admission is $5 and everyone is welcome. It’s Hammer Time!  
 
Dance Marathon is selling ¼ zips with all proceeds benefiting Riley Children’s Hospital. They are $40 cash, check, or Venmo and are available in the Main Office.  TODAY is National Fried Chicken Day, so come to Canes from 4-9 and tell them you are with South Dance Marathon. 
 
Do you want to perform in one of Indiana's best mixed high school choirs alongside a group of musicians who support one another for excellence? Audition to be a member of Sounds of South in the Choir Room during SRT on Monday, March 2nd. More information is available on the attached flyer. 
 
If you’re interested in playing Boys Volleyball this year, join us at one of the remaining Open Gyms before tryouts! Open to any boys at South. You can meet the coaches, learn/improve your game, engage in fun competition, and get some reps in before March 9th tryouts. Upcoming Open Gyms: February 25 & March 2 & 4 - 4:30-6:30pm in the purple gym.
