Congrats to the Debate team this past Saturday as we competed at Carmel High School for Districts. Nikki Beshkar, Jiping Liu, Mya Winn, Jiin Hur, Stella Ham, and Alice Racek placed in the top 4 for their respective events, with Nikki qualifying for Nationals this Summer in Richmond, Virginia.
Congratulations to our 2026 BHSS Poetry Out Loud Champion- Christina Blanchard -Bayer. Christina will be moving on to compete in the State Finals in late February. Also, congrats to our 2026 BHSS Poetry Out Loud Runner Up - Penelope Kerschbaum.
Attention all Panther writers and students: sign up for Panther Plus for aid and feedback with revising anything you’re writing, whether it be an essay, a poem, a short story, or something you’re working on outside of class such as a scholarship essay! If you want an extra pair of eyes on your work, National Honor Society volunteers will be available in Panther Plus every Thursday until the end of the trimester. Look for “Revision Lab” under the ELA department.
TODAY, The Monroe County Teen Librarians will be visiting Panther Plus. If you are interested in learning more about teen programs, new books in the collection, and doing a relaxing craft, then sign up for MCPL Craft and Chill Enrichment program under the ELA dept. We will meet in Mrs. Wintin's room this month. All students are welcome.
Talent Show rehearsals will be on Monday and Wednesday of next week with the Talent show on Friday night. Please sign up for a rehearsal time in the Main Office.
The Panther Hoops games originally scheduled for last Sunday have been rescheduled for this Saturday night…same time and same place. Your jerseys will be distributed today. Mr. True will be communicating with the captains regarding details.
Come join Women’s Empowerment Club on Monday, February 2nd in Mrs. Walls class, A211 during SRT. We will be having a guest speaker from the UNICEF club to talk about local politics and human rights.

Attention all writers and artists: Did you know that South has a student art and literary magazine? The Scratchpad is open for submissions for your stories, essays, poems, and artwork. You can view your peers’ work and submit your own at scratchpadbhss.com or scan a QR code on a poster.
The Winter Formal will be TONIGHT January 30th from 8:30-10:30pm in the Large Group Room after the Winter Court Basketball Game. Tickets are $10 and will be sold during all lunches today. Tickets will also be sold at the door. If you are bringing a guest from outside the school, please pick up a form in the Main Office. Dress your best, and we can’t wait to see you there!
